Manifesto

Against the Algorithmic Feed

Why the next internet cannot be built on compulsion metrics.

5 MIN READ·DRAFT SEED

The algorithmic feed is the most successful behavioral-extraction technology ever deployed against a civilian population. It is also a moral failure we have stopped naming.

For two decades the dominant pattern of consumer software has been: maximize time-on-platform, optimize for compulsion, measure success in seconds of attention captured. The result is a generation that knows the inside of a feed better than the inside of a thought, and an information system that rewards exactly the content that erodes it.

Engagement is not consent. It is a measurement, not a permission slip.

What we will not inherit

The AI era is being built right now by people who learned their craft inside that feed. If we don’t name the inheritance we are about to receive, we will receive it: dark patterns ported into agents, compulsion ported into chat, surveillance ported into “personalization,” and a thousand polite words for the same business model.

AtomEons is being designed in the opposite direction. Calm, governed, sovereign, human-authored. Not a feed. Not infinite. Not optimized for the seconds you stayed; optimized for what you actually came to do.

This is a draft seed of the full letter. The complete edition will land in the published series.
